In Vancouver, drinking through the jet lag on our first night with Laura!
Kitsilano, where Laura lives, is a gorgeous neighbourhood full of tree lined avenues, parks and clapboard houses.
Laura and Tony show us a few of the sights, including these First Nations totem poles at the entrance to Stanley Park.
In the charming village of Deep Cove, about to go for a little hike.
We sincerely hope it will be nothing like the 'walk' we went on in Nepal!
The trail takes us through impossibly green, lush woodland.
We're very happy to be spending time with Laura!
We make it to the top! (Ok, it was just a short walk and nothing to be proud of!) Tony's son Nathan is obsessed with girls so would rather look at Emily and Laura than the camera!
Laura's lovely parents, Cristina and Jorge, come round for dinner.
Just four blocks from Laura's apartment is the sea! Downtown Vancouver in the background.
We don't eat out much in Vancouver but HAVE to try an authentic poutine (we love the one they serve at the Maple Leaf pub in London). It's a little on the large side!!
On a trip to another part of the city to pay our bike shipping balance, we spy this sign and have to take a photo!
Waiting for a train back into the city, we're very excited to have all our papers signed off - now the bikes can be released from customs!
Back down to the beach in nicer weather. Not a bad view!
Vancouver just encourages a chilled, laid back attitude. You could come down here with a bottle of wine and book... in fact, many people are doing that just out of shot!
Makeover!! Laura lets me raid her wardrobe - it's weird to get dressed up for the first time since our wedding!
We meet Laura's brother George for a opening event at the gallery they're members of. James blends in nicely with his combats and fleece!
Out for a bite to eat afterwards - I think you can tell we rather like Vancouver!
Happy in our new home town!
We are lucky enough to get taken on a tour of the harbour by Laura's sister Monica and her friends Yves & Mike.
Mike backs the boat up to the rock face to demonstrate how deep the water is!
Thanks Yves, we had a fantastic day!
Out for a drink with Monica, we love this bar with graffiti and photos all over the walls.
Taking a stroll in Gastown, a historic area of Vancouver.
Hockey is a national obsession!
The local Yamaha dealership has kindly picked our crates up from the warehouse - here they come!
VERY excited! It's been nearly six weeks since we saw our bikes.
As I said, VERY excited!
