Relieved to have made it onto the eurotunnel in time... left from home 45 minutes late and were the last ones on!!
Lunch on first day in Arras. From now on, we'll be buying cheap stuff in supermarkets, honest!!!
First night's camp in the north of the champagne region (none for us though!). We were the only ones there... this was to become a theme for every campsite to follow.
Best campsite ever! Municipal site in tiny village of Precy-sur-Thil. Again, only ones there to enjoy the spotless washrooms, free electricity, slap up meal and bottle of wine! Life is good!
We get blue skies and typical French houses... just what we were after. Stopping for a water break, shade required!
Em is starting to get into her stride...
The bikes are so clean at this stage....
A lovely bit of tarmac in France (us in background!!)
Shortly after entering Switzerland, we got our first sight of proper mountains.
Camp by the river in Moudon, Switzerland. No bikes allowed, you say? James talked them round. Another ideal camp. Unless you have smellovision, you won't appreciate the freshly manured field opposite!
James cooks up another treat! Spaghetti and meatballs (wine bottle in photographer's hand...)
Enjoying Matthew's porridge. Two things to note in background: 1) Matthew's St George's flag towel hanging from the tree (shadow next to it is of German caravan....), 2) Farmer not convinced he's spread enough manure!
That's what I call scenery! The view as we head towards our first mountain pass (cue Em bricking it!)
Matthew waiting for his turn to use the 'toilet' (behind a tree!)
Could riding get better than this?!!
This is the life! (Matthew looks relaxed but has just pegged it down the hill after setting up a timered self-take!!)
Lunch in a flowered field ("The hills are alive....")
Wait for us, Em!
